Story

What goes up, must come down!  Just need a 443 foot rope - it was heavy... even for the hulk!

My Fellow (and non-Fellow :-)) actuaries, Group S Racing, the Westons in the West and my family and friends in Canberra and Sydney made a difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people across Australia by sponsoring The Hulk...  who abseiled down a 33 storey building on 18 October 2014 as part of the annual Abseil for Youth.  Thank you!

Planned:

Actual:

Many more photos on the AfY facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/abseilforyouth

I will provide a link to the GoPro footage when available.  In the meantime, here is some rather comical footage of the abseil experience from The Morning Show.

If you’re short on time watch from 3 ½ mins to 5 mins:

    Sir David Martin Foundation

Sir David Martin Foundation was set up in 1990 by the much loved Governor of New South Wales, Sir David Martin, four days prior to his death. The Foundation aims to realise the dream of Sir David Martin of an Australian community “where children can grow up in safety with hope and opportunity”. The Foundation raises funds for innovative and effective Mission Australia run youth crisis programs. We provide care, counselling, training and support for young people in crisis and foster community understanding of their needs and potential. With the goal to get more young people off the streets, away from unhealthy situations and into care and rehabilitation. We aim to encourage them in a new sense of self belief so that they can face the community at large without the need for drugs, crime and homelessness.
