Story

Hey everyone :)
In Oct this year I’ll be abseiling down a 33-storey building (135m) to fundraise for the Sir David Martin Foundation, a charity dedicated to helping disadvantaged and troubled youth. Please click on the link below to find out more about the organization:)  I won't be doing the abseil in the normal way, but will do it facing down instead! :S It’ll probably be freaking scary but I believe in the cause. To do the abseil I have to raise a minimum of $1500 so I’d really appreciate your support, but please only donate if you believe in the cause as I do :)

more info on the charity:
They take youths who have been homeless, have attempted suicide, have drug addictions etc. and fund their stay for 3 months in a centre in rural NSW (the Triple Care Farm) and provide them with counseling, individualised treatment, practical skills training, music and art...basically what they need to get them back on their feet.

Also, just be aware that for every $30 donated, $2.30 goes to credit card fees, GST and admin fees for the GoFundraise website. Thought i should let you know before you donate (and in case you are wondering why donations show up as a wierd number like $31.80)

Thanks for supporting my challenge and helping to make a difference to youth in crisis!

Where does your donation go?

Your money goes directly towards supporting young people through Triple Care Farm, an award-winning rehab program for youth stuggling with addiction, homelessness and mental illness.

  • $20 - buys a student's art supplies to be used during art therapy
  • $30 - buys an essential toiletries pack for new students, who mostly arrive with nothing
  • $100 - covers weekly accommodation costs for a student
  • $300 - buys a student a Suicide Prevention Counselling session
  • $1500 - buys a scholarship to help a graduate get back to work or study through provision of materials, uniforms or payment of course fees

Sir David Martin Foundation

Sir David Martin Foundation was set up in 1990 by the much loved Governor of New South Wales, Sir David Martin, four days prior to his death. The Foundation aims to realise the dream of Sir David Martin of an Australian community “where children can grow up in safety with hope and opportunity”. The Foundation raises funds for innovative and effective Mission Australia run youth crisis programs. We provide care, counselling, training and support for young people in crisis and foster community understanding of their needs and potential. With the goal to get more young people off the streets, away from unhealthy situations and into care and rehabilitation. We aim to encourage them in a new sense of self belief so that they can face the community at large without the need for drugs, crime and homelessness.
